Leadership, Fellowship and Relationship Rules

The following are principles universal to multiple areas of life, including any form of leadership, social standing, relationship, or other areas of life pertaining to people interaction. You can never lead anyone you are afraid to lose. Doing anything out of fear is a bad foundation and invites disaster, but especially in the area of leading people or developing close relationships with individuals (best friends, intimate friends). If you are too afraid to lose them, that indicates codependency, as well as a foundation based on the need to coddle (which becomes smothering in time) and compromise of core values (which becomes a hovering suffocation of control over the other over time), if you and the other are going to try to make the relationship work and last (which is not how a healthy relationship develops). Those you have manipulated or coddled to follow or come alongside you, or who you have allowed to manipulate you by what they bring, are now idols if you are not able to stand ...

Meditations

PRINCIPLES I LIVE BY... * Allow God to vice-grip your heart, to be broken over something, someone in need other than yourself. Allow Him to touch your heart in the areas where His is broken. * God's will has far more to do with where you are in Him than where you are in the earth. * We are called to be thermostats, not thermometers. Quit complaining about the temperature and atmosphere, and start setting it. * Lose yourself in intimacy with Him, and find yourself in servitude of others. * The desire to lead must not be pursued with an immediate ecstatic rush but rather a humble, persistent gravitating sense of destiny. * Have you ever been so broken within that you were weeping before the Lord, truly crying out to Him, in desperation? If so, was it because of pain, agony or heartbreak? Perhaps many of you have. But what about crying out to Him, in agony, undone, heartbroken because you just realized how bad your sin is, how much it hurts His heart, and how desperate you need ...

What is 'Church'?

Do I dare begin to draw from this area of my heart, wherein several overflowing vats of liquid fire reside in a state of unsettledness? …of which one such vat is what we Westerners know to be ‘church’? Let me just say that when it’s time to do my thing, I’ll make sure it doesn’t look like a lot of what I know and see at large. I give you my solemn word on that. I simply won’t do it before I would ever replicate that. I must find a way to be what Jesus was, which coincides with what He commanded us, me, you, to do. He said go into all the world, and He did just that in His world…and the religious despised Him for it. Hmm, really? I’m going, whether you come with me or not. Come with me, though. There’s no place like it. Why can’t we revolutionize with a pure passion and pursuit? We don’t have to settle for what is not happening in our world, our lives. Why can’t we spearhead or surround something new, something that is real and based on the founding principles, and in a way that we can ...

Propriety in Critiquing Ministries and Ministers

This is more for personal archive purposes, but several people have approached me in recent months with the topic of ministry leadership integrity. Whether speaking generally or referring mainly to well-known ones, it has become such a theme, I figured I would post a message addressing the questions I have fielded in summary. To set context, I believe it is vitally important to discuss legitimate questions in a respectful way that exudes nothing but grace and humility. I believe we are not to dedicate ourselves to a life of a sniper that aims only at certain of his own army. False Doctrine First of all, when I hear someone is claiming heresy with a minister, I need to know if they are talking about core beliefs, or if they are going back 15 years to a loose analogy of what Jesus specifically did after He died on the cross. I understand that ministers can easily come to conclusions about things that aren’t well spelled out or explain things in cavalier ways that may be easily misunderst...

Eagles Point

The purpose of this space is to simply to share experiences, encouragement, ideas, questions, challenges, struggles, and victories, in hopes that someone might be strengthened and uplifted, or even used by God to respond and strengthen and encourage me. The content comes from a genuine heart that seeks to live this out on a daily basis, whether successful or not. Authenticity is golden, and I strive to be transparent in my shortcomings. I believe this empowers us in a unique way by the Holy Spirit to call others to the graces we share. A good shepherd must be personally striving to walk out that which they call others to. I am encouraged by others who have a heart for genuine living, and especially those who have been through untold circumstances and have a story to tell as they journey through their healing. I advocate with a genuine, broken heart for the disadvantaged, the mistreated, the exploited. I seek to be as true to their stories, exp...
