I’m empassionately floored at the world’s ways and standards when it comes to, well anything, but especially women. I know the world, made up of a bunch of us humans of course, is selfish and prideful by nature. But there are some of us that have a conviction for humility, servitude, equality, and dignity of all people. I get very stirred when coming across various articles and posts that tap the depths of my heart, and I find it difficult not to respond with compassion towards the one in need, and godly indignation towards oppressive presence. Once again, as I peer into a ‘discussion’ between people who are supposedly in the same corner of protecting women’s dignity, I inevitably see someone who has that bent on just arguing blindly instead of listening and seeing the big picture. It’s why I, as a male feminist, removed myself very deliberately from certain circles and advocacies. One would think a male would be embraced in this arena. One couldn’t be further from the truth. Here are a few brimming, er, boiling thoughts from within as I navigate through the current state of affairs in American society as pertaining to objectification of women. I’m posting this for personal notation, as well as for a reference point to the benefit of a few people that have asked me about this topic in recent times… The Bible has a lot to say about equality among men and women. The problem for us 20-21st Century people is that many of us don’t know how to study cultural context, and we are also unfamiliar with the Author of the word of God. And the more unfamiliar we are with an author or creator of any work, the more we will misinterpret anything he or she is trying to get across in every expression. So, hopefully the following will help in that familiarization, as well as pulling points that can be otherwise very easy to miss, in order to bring out the heart of God and His purposed equality on all levels, including and particularly among genders.
