For Survivors, My Sisters

To every one of you who have survived various forms of exploitation and abuse and are now coming forth in various ways… I can’t begin to tell you how thankful I am that you have taken the bold and courageous step of sharing your story and exposing the truths and realities of your experience, the fabrics and textures around you, the content and condition of your heart. One person recently told me they realize it may be difficult for me to read, referring to the horrendous things they had to endure. My heart cries out that it’s not fair they had to go through these things and not me. If someone went through it, then I will go through it with them too. It’s not fair that someone gets their childhood ripped away from them, or their intimacy exploited, or their sense of sanity and stability ruptured. And those who have not had this happen just sit by? No. I have sat by, in ignorance, far too long. Thank God He awakened myself from my selfish, insulated little kingdom and drew me out of ...

NY Post Inappropriate Headline

"Crazy Stox Like a Hooker’s Drawers…Up, Down, Up" Really. To whom it may concern: You have to be embarrassed by now, seeing the reality of what was printed and what it makes the Post look like. You have to have more professionalism in your work. Creativity is an art that is to be used with skill. The great ones don’t ever sink into filthiness just to get people’s attention. Remember, you are a leading paper in this country. That means of all the professional journalism, you are supposed to be one of the best (if not the best). Please, take time to really consider this personally, because I’m coming alongside you to share this, not to bash and attack you. I’m sure you’ve gotten enough of that. We look to papers like yours in print, online, and in mobile apps, to see what you are experiencing and how you’re responding to what we are experiencing as a country. Maintain integrity and respect for all, from Christian to atheist, from executive to prostitute. And in this i...

Defending the Helpless...When Convenient

Taking a stand for anything other than self takes a lot of initiative, especially in societies where independence and self-absorption is pervasive. Many of us do not care enough if at all about things or people that do not directly affect ourselves, if we want to be honest with ourselves…which we might as well, right? So I encourage us to find internal fortitude to stand up for something important, or support those who do. As for those of us who do take stances, whether big or small, I would like to present encouragement and a challenge. Thank you for taking the time to do or say something for the things that need talked about. It takes time that most of us usually do not have, the putting aside of things that could easily be done otherwise. Of course, for those who source themselves greatly in our efforts, let us not come to a place of sacrificing family and other core responsibilities, but rather find a healthy balance that works well with the needs of all. We stand for animals that ...

Introduction and Greeting of an Abolitionist

Dear women, men and children that have been exploited, I consider you my own sisters and brothers. You have someone seeking God on your behalf, seeking you out, to bring you to places of rest, freedom and healing, from the inside-out. May the Lord overshadow you with His wings and gently guide you to places you have never been within. My utmost respect and admiration...and advocacy. Eagles Point | A safe place of rest...

My Letter to the News: Recent Article Posting Arrested Women

My heart sank when I saw that women recently arrested were posted for all to see, and for them to be further exploited. We have to understand as a community that there are certain things that need to be done to create and protect an atmosphere and culture and society of safe haven and healing and restoration. Assuming that is our true goal. And it must be. Here is my plea to the writer and director… Good evening, I want to thank you for serving our community with the work you all do gathering and reporting the news to us. We very easily take for granted what it takes to accomplish top notch news-casting, and we forget how important it is for our daily lives. I had a couple colleagues bring the recent article about the prostitution roundup with the ladies’ pictures posted. As being an integral part of the rescue and aftercare process with those who are trafficked, exploited, as well as those who don’t have a current trafficker controlling them, it I wanted to let you know a little more ...

Overcoming Porn Addition -- To a Friend

This is for someone far more important to God and to people than he knows. If someone else can benefit from this as well, that is wonderful… Bro, it’s been good to connect with you. I hope you have a heart of anticipation that things do not have to stay the same with you, no matter how long they’ve been the way they are now. At least one thing has been changing—you’ve been getting sick and tired of things as they are. That’s definitely the first step out of anything addictive in nature, especially porn. There are a few things general things about addictions and a couple things specific to your situation to bear in mind when approaching true freedom and healing here. First, the general… We are addicts by nature. God actually made us that way. It wasn’t the result of sin. We were created to be addicted to God. Sin brought on tendency towards unhealthy addiction. So, we’re not trying to just cut off addictiveness, per se, but rather redirect it in a healthy way. We also need to acknowledg...

Observations, Meditations and Interactions of a Male Feminist

I want to use this to express feelings, thoughts and interactions I have experienced in a very important area of advocacy that I serve in. The following are various posts along these lines… Here is an expression of my heart in observing the landscape of exploitation: “I have increasingly recognized the unfairness of our societies where women have to be extra cautious about so many things. Many can’t even express friendliness or kindness without it being taken and ran with by some stupid guy at some point, they may often feel hindered from the full freedom of being in public without wondering what guy will make a comment or pass at them in some way. Then there’s the whole safety thing. It’s almost like public life is a glass bubble or prison. There are simply stupid men out there messing this up for women. Despite these guys being the minority, their actions and words are so irritating to horrible that it feels like a vast majority. And the whole media and advertising sexualization ...

Indie Sex Workers and Men as Consumers

I have had a few interesting conversations with and observations of women who advocate for sex work and the sex industry. I primarily pay attention to the ones who are share how they are independent of any male (or female) control or management. And while some percentage of them, as well as others who aren’t even sex workers, may be puppets of a man or organization with an alternate agenda, I will give the benefit of the doubt that there are those who are truly very independent and not under any organization’s control. The following comes from such conversations and observations… Sex workers want very much to separate themselves from the discussion of human trafficking. For those who are truly independent of control, it’s not their experience, and it has detrimental effects on a few levels. It makes their place in the industry look much worse, and it causes them to have to consider decisions, beliefs and circumstances…to evaluate and reevaluate things they have compartmentalized, abo...
